TABLE LAMP XIV – GLOBE II Lamp is made of senegalese calabash. Like the first Globe it’s a precise model of the Earth. Meridians and circles of latitude are marked every 20 degrees; the contours of the continents are reconstructed accordingly. The land is marked by a deeper layer of white wood which allows some light to pass through it. Meridians and circles of latitude are perforated so light passing through them makes light effects on the walls around. Lamp has closed form. The opening part around circle of latitude 60 is locked by small magnets. The head of the lamp has set position. In this case The Pacific Ocean is not so attractive so it’s on the one side of the lamp an the other is more interesting. The supporting stem is finished with brown jeweller waxed string. Also the part of the cable between base and switcher is weaved by thin string in the same type. The base is carved in wood and finished with natural italian oil. On the underneath side of the base is burned Calabarte logo with month and year that lamp was finished in. Diameter of the gourd is 24 cm and lamp is 41 cm high.
